Waarom Type 1 CA in plaats van Type 4 CA?
Er zijn enkele UL-erkende SPD's (Surge Protective Devices) op de markt. Maar houd er rekening mee dat veel van hen Type 4 CA (Component Assembly) zijn, terwijl de SPD van Prosurge Type 1 CA zijn. Voor niet-prosessionals: ze zijn allemaal UL-recgonized met hetzelfde UL-keurmerk. Maar er is een enorm verschil tussen Type 4 CA en Type 1 CA SPD's.
Type 4 Component Assembly SPD (Component Recognized) - Deze component
assembly's zijn onvolledige SPD-assembly's, die meestal zijn geïnstalleerd in
vermelde eindproducten, zolang aan alle voorwaarden voor aanvaardbaarheid is voldaan. Deze Type 4
Componentassemblages zijn onvolledig als een SPD, vereisen verdere evaluatie en zijn dat niet
toegestaan om te worden geïnstalleerd in het veld als een zelfstandige SPD. Vaak hebben deze apparaten nodig
extra overstroombeveiliging.
Type 4 CA SPD wordt niet onderworpen aan veiligheidstests zoals tussenstroomtest en kortsluitstroomtest (SCCR) en daarom moeten ze werken met een extra veiligheidsapparaat.
Type 1, 2, 3 Component Assemblage SPD's (Component Recognized) - Dit zijn SPD's met erkende componenten die zijn geëvalueerd voor gebruik in Type 1, 2 of 3 SPD-toepassingen. Dergelijke SPD's voor componenten moeten dezelfde elektrische veiligheidsstoringstests doorstaan als vermeld Type 1, 2 of 3 SPD's. Deze Type 1, 2 of 3 erkende componenten SPD's moeten niet worden verward met ANSI / UL 1449-2006 Type 4 Component Assemblies en Type 5 discrete SPD-componenten die aanvullende componenten vereisen (mogelijk veiligheidsonderbrekers), ontwerp en testen om te worden gebruikt als een compleet overspanningsbeveiligingsapparaat.
Prosurge Type 1 CA SPD pass 200kA SCCR-test (kortsluitstroomwaarde) die de bovengrens is in het UL-lab en daarmee de hoogste standaard in SPD-veiligheid vertegenwoordigt.
